How are NCAA Basketball Brackets Scored?

We use a standard 1-2-4-8-16-32 scoring system. Correct picks in each subsequent round of the tournament are worth more points. Each bracket has a total of 192 possible points.

What happens if two brackets end with the same total score? AKA Tie Breakers

If two or more participants have tied at the end of the tournament, the person with the guess closest to the total points scored in the championship game would be the winner.

Example:

• Tom guesses 135 total points.

• John guesses 80 total points.

• The total points scored in the Championship Game is 134 Points.

• Tom only missed it by 1 point. Tom is the winner.

What is the deadline to complete a bracket and enter a tournament?

Brackets are locked in once play begins during Round 1 of the NCAA Tournament at noon ET on Thursday, March 16th.

Are Degen Brackets country/state gated at all or should anyone be able to participate?

There are some country specific limitations to just downloading the Knights of Degen app itself. But once a user has downloaded the app there aren’t internal region specific limitations that would keep someone from competing in a Bracket tournament.

What is Stake to Play?

A new, no risk format for fantasy and sports games. Users can stake DGEN to enter contests with a prize pool. Once the contest is done, the staked amount will return to the user's wallet.

How do I get DGEN Tokens to enter a Stake To Play Tournament?

Everyone who downloads the app will get a self-custodial wallet and 100 DGEN, our ERC-20 token.

100 DGEN will cover entry into KOD's sponsored pool (tickets to 2024 Final Four up for grabs) and entries into other "stake to play" tournaments.

What are the First Four?

The initial bracket released on Selection Sunday includes 60 locked-in teams and four empty spaces, to be determined among eight teams — the four lowest-seeded automatic bids and the four lowest-seeded at-large bids — competing in the First Four play-in games. The winners of these four games will take up the final four available spots and complete the field of 64.

Can you alter a bracket?

Your bracket can be altered as much as you want before you finalize your picks and your bracket is minted; once the bracket is minted however, it is locked in. Make sure you feel comfortable with your bracket before you submit it — and don’t leave it incomplete!

What are strategies for filling in a Bracket?

You can use whatever methodology you want to fill out your bracket, but higher seeds are usually favored in their respective matchups, especially in earlier rounds. That doesn’t guarantee victory, however: Upsets happen every year and have been known to bust brackets.

Picking one or two early upsets won’t bust your bracket— and could actually score you points — but don’t pick a team to go far in the tournament unless you’re confident in their ability. Otherwise, you could potentially cost yourself a higher score.
